Accessible Books

Accessible books and materials are better for everyone. Ensuring the knowledge produced by our authors and editors is available to all readers, regardless of their ability, has become a priority thanks to the work and advocacy of those in the disability community. Several Canadian University Presses have now achieved Global Certified Accessible publisher certification. Athabasca University Press, University of British Columbia Press, Les Presses de l'universite d’Ottawa/University of Ottawa Press, and Wilfrid-Laurier University Press have all been certified accessible.

Next steps for accessible publishing in our group include working on the data for our books so that we can better communicate their accessibility features on this site. Be sure to watch this space!

Canadian University Presses have long been at the forefront of publishing books on disability and Canadian society by scholars and activists in disability studies and related disciplines. Please visit our Disability Studies page to find the books that we have published in this area.
