More than a decade after Ben-Dor's study, Makkovik, Kennedy's research of the same community shows that the Settler and Inuit groups still have little to do with each other. The author describes the ways in which Settlers and Inuit attach ethnically specific and symbolic meanings to past and present cultural traits. By this process, separate ethnic boundaries are maintained.
